Applications for Graduate positions close on 31st March 2010
Following are a couple of tips to make applying easy:
Have a copy of your academic transcript and a soft copy of your resume at hand.
You can go back in and modify your application if you don't have time to complete it all in one go.
Make a note of the username and password you set up to enable you to go back in and finish/adjust your application.
Check the spelling, grammar and formatting of your resume and cover letter. Your application will be evaluated by our recruitment team and all of these points will be taken into consideration.
You can apply for more than one of the graduate opportunities if you are interested. Click on each of the jobs of interest and apply. Once you have completed one application, the second application is a very quick process.

Online Aptitude Testing
If you are successful in progressing through the application process, you will be invited to complete online aptitude tests. The tests are time based and will take approximately 30 minutes. Please ensure you have a quiet, uninterrupted time to complete.

Phone Interview
The next step, is a phone discussion with one of our Graduate Recruiters who will ask questions to find out more about you and your interests and share with you information about National Foods, our Graduate Program and selection process. This is a good time to have any initial queries you may have answered. Please allow approximately 20 minutes for this discussion.

Information Evening
During our Information Evening, you will meet Senior Leaders from our Business, current National Foods graduates and potential colleagues who will also be progressing through to the next stage of the recruitment process. This is an informal setting where over a drink and a bite to eat you'll have a chance to ask candid questions and find out more about our Company, what it's like to work at National Foods and what to expect in the Group Assessment during the following days. This event does not form part of the selection decision making process.

Group Assessment
This is the first of our face to face selection days and will take approximately 3 hours. The time will consist of group and individual exercises related to business issues within National Foods. You don't need in-depth business knowledge to work on the case studies, instead draw upon your interpersonal skills, life experiences and problem solving ability.

Final Interview
The final stage of the selection process is the final interview with 2 Senior Leaders who you would potentially be working with on your first or subsequent job rotations. The questions the Leaders ask will be behavioural based ie. based on experiences you have had to date, so be ready to provide real life examples to the questions from your university, work/community experience to date. In addition, we will be trying to assess if you are a great fit for National Foods, do you really want to work for us and do you have the ability to do the job. If you are successful, following the final interview you will be made an offer. The offer will remain open for 7 days to allow you to consider and ask any final questions you may have before making a final decision. Interview Tips:
The interview is a two way process, so please have questions prepared. Feel free to bring in your written questions.
- To help prepare for the sorts of questions you may be asked, review our Competency framework and think of specific examples of how you have exhibited those competencies to date.
- Remember to keep it real. You may be asked for examples of positive achievements to date as well as experiences of when you have been unsuccessful and key learnings from that experience. Demonstrating your learning ability and self awareness is a big plus, so don't try to come across as faultless.
- Listen to the question that is being asked and make sure your response is answering the question; it is off putting if you try to give a pre-prepared answer that doesn't actually answer the question asked.
- Take your time in thinking about what response to give, ask for the question to be rephrased if you're not quite sure what is being asked.
